  • I-485 Re-opened after denial and sent RFE

    Hello

I had my interview april 2018 and shortly I was sent a denial due to no proof of entry. After working with my lawyer I was able to prove lawful presence and entry. My I-485 was then re-opened september 2019 and I got a letter in the mail RFE of a new medical examination needed because the last one is expired. I wanted to ask, what does this mean for my case, my EAD is also expired so if I wanted to work what would come first a new EAD or the GC, how long would it take for them to make a decision after I send the additional evidence.

    Thanks

My case i-485 was under review for more than a year after interview. Then out of the blue they sent me an RFE to redo medical. They approved the green card 5 days after they received the new medical.

Congratulations, how did you know they approved the green card. Did they immediately send the green card in the mail? or a letter stating your case has been approved and you'll need to send passport sized photos again. I assume they won't want to use the same photos you sent with your initial I-485 form a year ago or will they?

I wasn't asked to send anything else except the new medical they used the same biometrics from almost 3 years ago when i filed. It took over a year to get to interview.
The green card and approval letter just showed up in mail on same day. Going from the dates on the letter, they approved my case 5 days after they received the RFE and Green card was mailed 2 days later, I had green card in hand the next day.

Online status didn't update until after I received green card.

Hang in there you will get it.

            Update 10/21/2019

From the tracking number on the RFE: medical exam I sent back. They received it on 10/2/2019, and we haven't heard anything back yet. I'm starting to wonder what's taking them so long.

I got a letter from USCIS which is notice of the decision, they ask me to send 290b withe the current fee to the service center. I got denied due to miss of the 864, I didn't submit 864 with 485 together, Right now I try to reopen it.
the problem is what should I submit this time?
Do I submit 864 with 290b together or only 290b or resubmit 485 and 290b?
