  • Employment Base AOS i-485

I wanted to make this in order for all EB AOS applicants to have a place to compare timelines easily, ask/answer questions and share interview experience because other preferences for AOS have different timelines and interview experiences,e.g. F2A. I am hoping this thread will help ease out a lot of uncertainties and/or anxieties from our fellow EB applicants.

Good idea but the problem with this is that there are several categories and each category also has country restrictions.
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

True. I just want to consolidate all EB AOS applications. If you have followed one of those monthly filers thread you will notice that timelines and interview experiences are somewhat different. I find my self reading through it without being able to at least compare timeline or share experiences. If we have to make every specific category, I'm up to it. I believe we need to organize more that way people do not have to spend a lot of time just looking for other applicants of same preferences or category.

I read some EB cases, from what I remember:
        - EB with an interview during retrogression, got GC a couple of weeks into the month when the PD became current.
        - EB got GC during Sep 2019 even when the PD is going to be current again in Oct 2019 per next month Visa Bulletin.
        - EB4 religious minister: filed in November 2018, got GC without an interview around 6-7 months (May-June 2019).
        - EB with backlogs can renew the EAD up to 180 days before expiration and the NOA should extend the expiration for 180 days. I have read a couple of posts from EB people that have renewed the EAD for several years now (born in India mostly).

From all the EB cases I have read (not many), the EAD is delivered between 3-4 months after sending the package.

        Hope this helps.

I think it's a great idea to have all of the EB cases together. Obviously, as Enub4 points out, you have to be careful comparing the timelines, since so many different things affect the timelines. Regardless, adding myself in this thread since I'm EB3.

Thank you everyone. Slowly but surely I'm getting an idea on how USCIS works. Although they are not open to public with how they manage everything, I find that even with just information from their website and information from EB applicants we will soon have a good idea on how they work.

I believe they have their own timelines to do or follow e.g. when to process a case, when to check/review fingerprints, when interviews are schedule and when they give out EAD/AP and GC.

I think it depends on a country you were born. I have two other friends from my country, who got their interview dates in exactly 7 months. Mine took approximately 7 months from the date I applied i-485 to interview scheduled date. I might be wrong.

Most of the march EB3 filers I know had scheduled interviews of the same date as yours, some on Oct. 23, 2019. Applied around a similar date too and timeline quiet the same. This tells me that when USCIS makes decisions they do so in bulk and perform interviews during a particular period of time e.g Oct 23-31 (I could still be wrong with this one). However, another friend of mine applied January of 2019 yet EAD/AP card and interview scheduling decisions were made at the same time as my other friend who applied in March of 2019.

This all may vary depending on what visa preference we use. This is also why I think its a good idea to consolidate at least employment-based applications. I think the priority dates are only where our country of origin matters.

It probably varies on a lot of different factors. Take fdb2171 and my cases for instance. With a quick glance you might think that our cases are pretty similar: both are EB-3 cases filed in March. Even so, our timelines are a bit different. I haven't had my interview scheduled for instance, but did get my EAD already. I also got my I-140 approved more than 2 months before fdb2171. There are probably other factors that are affecting our cases, like previous status, country of origin, how much evidence is included in the application, what field office you're assigned to and on and on. Processing time is probably affected at least a little by all those factors. All we can do is share our timelines and take our best guesses.

Hard to say. From the cases I've seen, it seems they prefer to wait until the interview if it's already been scheduled so that you get the green card, and they then don't have to issue the EAD (since the green card grants employment authorization anyways). However, there are one or two cases out there where people receive their EADs a few days before or after their green cards. Either way, keep us posted.

I hope you'll get your interview schedule soon.

I only read a few timelines but i notice some trends like, interviews are done around 7-8 months or after 180days period, and EAD/AP mostly approved around september. So i'm thinking this might be a common trend it is just that when other factors comes into play in each individual case that is when delays happen.
