retrogression for Eb2 NIW rest of the world ended - when I will receive the GC?

Hi all, my wife and I (both from Italy) had the AOD interview in Sacramento on July 26 but we got affected by retrogression - they said they had no more numbers. Luckily we have at least combo cards valid till May 14 2020. Now the priority date for my NIW application is back to current - how soon can I expect our GCs? Our packages have been sent back to the national benefit center and that worries me because they might get lost or delayed a lot. Anyone going through similar experience? Thanks Roberto

Hi Roberto! You are not alone! If you go in Read/Post Experience (Left column on the main page of the website) then Employment based green card, you will see that we are many in the same situation!

My husband and I are EB2 -NIW from Belgium, got interview on 7/25/19 and online status still says "Interview was scheduled" ...
Cannot say anything else but fingers crossed and hope it gets resolved soon!

I bet you will get your GC before May 2020.

One question: why you said "additional expensive paperwork"? The renewal of I-765/I-131 is free while I-485 is pending, no?

You can see it in the instructions for either the I-765 or the I-131. On the I-765, in the filing fee section (page 23), it states the categories that are exempted from paying the fee, and one of them is a renewal application the EAD when you have applied for Adjustment of Status (c9). Just need to include your receipt for the I-485. The I-131 instructions have a similar exception.

BTW, is there a link with clear renewal instructions and list of docs? I read we can request up to 180 from the expiration date. So for combo card I am assuming we will submit renewal request for I-765 and I-131 together, right?

Hi Peckheim,

The EAD of 485 is automatically renewed for 180 days. Something for you to consider when to renew it. We all hate the paperwork, even the filing is free.

I have read a couple of posts from people that renewed a combo card and got a new EAD without AP. Some say that is because the EAD can be renewed up to 180 days before expiration and the AP only up to 120 days. Don't have enough DP to know if this is always the case.

The problem is that there are very few posts about this. The couple I read said that they didn't get a combo card after renewal but just EAD, I don't know if they got the AP later or if they had to send the paperwork again just for the AP.

I'm planning to send my renewal within 120 days and see what happens.

I’m Romanian National and Got interviewed on Aug 2, 2019 on I-485 /EB2 Dallas. Priority date July 2, 2018.
interviewer said: I would approve it now but because of retrogression I can only send your case for review to my supervisor.

No news for now so I applied for EAD extension without AP.

This is quite unfair. You got your interview done way before me, in the same field office of Sacramento. My interview was on Oct 17th, just after the final date became current, and I received my GC exactly one week after. Hopefully you will get yours soon.
