  • EB2 - Interview experience at San Jose Field Office

    Hi all,

We completed our interview at San Jose Office on Oct 09. We were so worried that the office might be shut down during the notorious Bay Area power outage, luckily it remained open.
Our appointment was at 12:30, we checked in at noon, waited for 20 minutes and an officer called our number at around 12:30.

He was pleasant, walked us into the room. He introduced himself and got us raise our right hands and swore under oath.
Then we got some small talks about the education system, college admission, travel. lol
Seriously, we talked about other stuff more than about the case. He asked our full names, dates of birth, our jobs, how and when we met, and some yes/no questions from the 485 form.
The documents that he asked: pay stubs of both, employment letters, birth certs, marriage cert, tax return, car insurance, life insurance, bank statement, rental contract. We provided him all but the bank statement as we didn't have any joint account. He said it was ok, your young people were so financially independent.

He looked at our photo book as well, commented on the photos, queried who was in the pictures, etc.
The time he spent asking us about our case was around 20 minutes.
He was kind, and not imitating at all. He travels a lot and is very knowledgable about our country.

At the end of the interview, he gave us a paper that said the case was held for review, and we should be approved within a couple of weeks. But after a day, our status changed to New card being produced already. So I guess we are approved.

We shook his hands, thanked him, and he walked us out.

The whole experience was great. I hope my review would brew some positive air to whom still waiting. I was like that before, and so stressed before the interview that I couldn't sleep on the night before...

    Good luck!!!
