Hi, just sharing my interview experience yesterday, in Sacramento, CA.
After reading a lot, I was super prepared for the interview, with all my original documents, letters, etc...As a NIW case, I had my papers, employment letters, paychecks, recommendation letters, etc and a lot more. Because my husband was with me as derivative, we had all evidence of marriage, including marriage certificate, joint account, pictures, etc...
When the interview started, the officer opened my case and told me that I probably already new that my I-140 was approved in June. He took my I-693 and after checking for a few minutes, said it was fine. He asked me what my research field was and where I graduated. After that, he only checked the I-485 form, checked names, spelling. He asked a few of the yes or no questions of the form and asked me to sign. For my husband, he also checked the I-693 and then he only asked where we married and also double checked the info in the form and the yes or no questions. Nothing else.
He was very nice and the interview took around 20-30 minutes. I was surprised because he did not ask ANYTHING at all. The only thing he took, because I offered, was an updated I-94. I did not show originals for birth certificate, marriage certificate, diploma... nothing at all. All the papers I brought with me stayed inside my folder untouched. He did not ask anything except the questions already in the form. This was a big surprise for me. After the interview was completed, he said he would put it in the system probably in that afternoon and if nothing was wrong with my background checking, I should receive my green card within three weeks.
Around 12h later I received the e-mail with the status "New card being produced".
