  • Hi tomibillar,

I think the letter is same for everyone. I also did not receive any rfie about I864 but its written on my letter as well. It says sponsor or co-sponsor's.. my wife is my sponsor so I don't think we need a co (joint) sponsor since we did not get any rfie about it..if we needed joint sponsor, they would send it right after fingerprints approval..

Yes they do. When we went in they ask if we were applying for a new ITIN or renewing an existing ITIN.

i submitted my i864 form for joint sponsor with tax return and all W2s without paystub or letter from employer verifying pay rate . I didn’t get an rfie for the form i864 ..
my interview notice stated I should come with the last 2 month of paystub and letter from employer for my joint sponsor..
My joint sponsor is my uncle who recently had personal issues with my wife and hasn’t been talking to me .. I have been trying to reach him since I got the interview letter so I can get the paystub and letter from employer but he is not available..

should i I go ahead with the interview or get a new joint sponsor to fill out a new form 864 to take along on interview day
If it was me, I would go with option 2, and take in a full package for a new sponsor with me to the interview just in case they ask. Better to be safe than to be sorry.

Oct 1: Documents mailed (Los Angeles)
          Oct 2: Received
          Oct 2: Checks Cashed
Oct 11: Received three hard copy notices
Oct 18: Biometrics Appointment Notice Received
          Oct 19: Biometrics Completed (Walk-in)
Nov 14: Courtesy letter for medical received
          Jan 16: EAD approved

We are a little worried that I-485 wasn’t updated at all, it still says fingerprint fee received. We are in Los Angeles so it’s possible that it will take longer. However, we are wondering if anyone else experienced the same in terms of no updates on the USCIS website.

Today, we received another I797 notice for the fingerprints, apparently, the first one didn't go through even though we received the EAD card. The officer at USCIS service center said the second try may not go through either (based on the prints). I am really worried now that it's going to delay everything. There arent many recent incidents where people faced the same problem.

                • 22 days after biometrics were taken status finally has changed to "Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken". I was worried because from people's signatures I see that status usually changes the same day or the next day after biometrics appointment.

I just talked to my immigration attorney. She said it's a standard letter and
since we already filed my spouse's w2s and tax return with enough income and did not receive any RFIE , I don't need a joint sponsor she said.

                    • Hey guys!

I have a question about health insurance.

Me and my wife have all joint documents except the health insurance and my attorney told me public charge immigration rule has been allowed since monday and better to have a joint health insurance not to risk it..

Do you have any recommendations about it ?

We have similar timeline! Same happened to me yesterday . I have read that fingerprints should appear taken before they give you the GC. So I assume they are moving on our cases and that's why we received the update

Does your spouse have health insurance through work? Typically you can only be added when you are first married or during open enrollment.

Although the public charge rule is now in effect, that should only apply to people who filed AFTER the ruling was made.

Same here. My employer won't add my husband to my insurance without a SSN either. That's one of the reasons we applied for an ITIN.
