From what I've been reading yes it is an RFE. However, it is pretty standard for those who didn't submit medical in the initial package and you are allowed to bring the medical exam during the interview.

Thanks for clarifying. It almost makes more sense since both sohi429 and I have the exact same timeline. That would be too weird if we both got RFIE’d also on the same day if it wasn’t for something standard like the medical.

I know it’s speculation u til we receive the letter, but if it is the medical, does that mean our cases are on hold until we respond (as it shows in the online status)?

For AOS with required interview, you can bring medical to the interview and it shouldn't delay the process.

Thanks! That’s what we had understood when we submitted the package. Hopefully the RFIE is for the medical then.

I will post an update as soon as we receive the RFIE in the mail. Very curious about what it could be..
Lol, we keep the twinning streak alive!

The issue for me is that I did indeed send in all the documents in the initial package including the medical. Usually, it seems like the RFIE is issued due to medical, birth certificate or the financial documents for supporting I-864.

Ok well there goes that theory then, lol. At this point it’s anyone’s guess. We did not submit medical, and we did include a certified translation with my husband’s birth certificate. Also filed the 864w (exemption) since he has over 40 ss credits. We shall see in a few days once those letters arrive..

Wouldn't your AOS be considered abandoned? Did you consult to a lawyer?

Not that I know of. I did speak to a lawyer before I filed.

Since my H1B visa was still valid there was no need for the I-131.

That status will not send a notice letter. You need to wait to change again to "Interview Scheduled" and after that update, it usually arrives in a week.

There are a few visas that let you travel abroad and back and not make the AOS be considered abandoned. H1 is one of those.

                            • Seems like many July filers received their EAD combo cards in November (4 months) and are starting to receive interview notices in December (5 months). Lots of action on the July Filers thread, not bad as far as processing time goes.
