  • Waiting for Interview

I hope someone with a similar situation can provide some information.

    Here are some background details:
    • My wife and I have a family-based application via my mother who is a USC
    • After waiting close to 20 years for our priority date, we were able to submit our 485-I applications last year (March 2018)
    • USCIS accepted our fingerprints on 4/4/2018
    • Received my work authorization permit on 9/5/2018
    • Renewed work authorizations auth. on 8/20/2019.

    My question is:
It has been 16 months since USCIS received our fingerprints and we have not received anything regarding the interview. Is this standard waiting time? What should I do at this point, any recommendations?

    Thank you in advance.

      Hi,

I live in Las Vegas NV and my case number starts with MSC. I am not sure if my city and/or the 3 letters of the case number determine the field office. If not, please let me know where to look for that.

      Thank you,
      Uriel

Click here to find your field office: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-.../field-offices
Its based on you zip, etc. though there are very rare occasions where they send you to an office around but not your local FO, I've seen that happen a few times here.

Also, does your case fall under 3rd preference for Family Visas? I'd check the bulletin since I think that one has a limit.

        Good luck!

I checked the FO based on my zip code. The correspondent field office based in ZIP code is listed below, however, there is a note that states that forms are not to be sent to that address.

Yes, we are under 3rd preference (F3) under family based visas.

Office Address: 5650 West Badura Avenue, Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89118
Do not send completed forms or documentation to this address. You must send your documentation to the address listed on your form. See Filing Information below.

Hi raktman , yep, the office where you filed will be the one that sends your file to the FO, in which case, the National Benefits Center which is the office that received your paperwork will then send it to your Field Office. The FO in turn is the one in charge of conducting the interviews so yours would go based on their schedule. This is why some people's cases go by (re: 485) faster than others, because of which FO they are under. It varies greatly as well so I would not go exactly based off of the estimated case processing times they have online. Hope this helped clarify.

Is there a way to find out how busy the assigned field office is? I would like to find out if it is going to take months or years.

              Thank you for your help.

You can visit https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ and check the estimates for different field offices.

I checked the website provided by Enub4 The Las Vegas Field Office shows an estimated time of 11.5 Months to 19.5 Months for I-485 applications.

Does anybody know if this timeframe starts from the time the National Benefits Center received my case (18 months ago) or from the time the Field Office receives my application? I guess that is another question, how do I know when the FO receives my application?

Thank you all for your help,

                  Uriel

Have you tried the lawfully app? They can “calculate” your time schedule.

raktman I believe that is based on PD since they don't always notify when it's been sent to your FO.
