Hi. Just kind of wanted to cheer people up. I filed my vawa in July 2017. In February 2019 it got approved. Immediately after, I filed the i485. In August I had my interview in Chicago. After that received a rfe for a new medical. Sent back the new medical after four days and then waited two months and nothing. “Interview was completed and case must be reviewed” today, after 2.5 months from the interview i woke up (and still can’t believe it) to an email that they’ve taken action on my case. - New card is being produced. So guys, be patient. I know it seems super unfair that some get approved on the stop and other have to wait months if not years. And it’s super stressful. But doesn’t always mean that something’s wrong.
also, for those who have AP and are afraid to travel, i would like to add that about two weeks ago i traveled to my home country and to indonesia for vacation with my dad (hadn’t seen him in many years). When coming back to the US i wasn’t sure how to fill out the paper for customs. The immigration officer himself told me to fill it out as a resident. The only questions he asked me were: where are you going? I said i was going home. He welcomed me home.
then he just asked where i was for vacation and that was it. There’s a lot of negative stuff about AP so i thought i’d share my experience. Before i applied for vawa, i had a period of about 15 months being without status in the US. I overstayed my B2.
good luck to everyone
