  • When to do and submit medical exam?

We submitted our documents in October. Medical exam was not ready so we submitted withoit
When shall we do medical exam? Should we wait for rfe or interview invite?
    Thanks

I took my Medical exam after getting my interview invite, and submitted it to the IO at the interview. She opened it there, and checked it if it was complete and correct. Before you get the interview invite, you should also get a pink-letter RFE for your Medical exam in your mail, asking you to submit a sealed I-693 (Medical exam form) at the interview.

USCIS says that you can submit your medical:
      - with your AOS application
      - if they issue an RFE for it
      - bring it to your interview

I read 1 case that they sent a letter that said: "personally bring your medical to your local office", in that case, an interview was not required but they needed the medical to finish the application. I guess the person lived near the local office so an RFE was not required.

Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

If you wish you can still mail in the I693 to be added to your file, I would. You can still get another copy from your doctor at a later time. It was a required document for the filing process, and while some state USCIS offices are still issuing RFE for medicals, I have read where USCIS says they will eventually stop issuing RFEs for required documents. However, luckily the USCIS states that " A properly and timely completed Form I-693 remains valid for two years from the date of the civil surgeon’s signature." So with any luck you can take yours to the interview, the only things is that without it being in the original application, the processing of same may be hampered and an interview date delayed.

I would not mail the I-693 if not with the I-485 or with RFE.

The information here is clear: https://www.uscis.gov/i-693
You (not the civil surgeon) must submit your Form I-693 to USCIS. If you are applying for adjustment of status, you may submit Form I-693:
          • By mail with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to the location specified for your Form I-485 (see Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485).
          • By mail after filing your Form I-485 to the location specified in your most recent communication with USCIS (for example, a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS).
          • In person at an interview in a USCIS field office (if an interview is required).
From what I read, they don't like receiving documents that are not a) applications or b) RFE related. Also I read about some doctors asking for $250 for a new sealed copy of the medical.

Definitely don’t mail the medical by it self. When you get the rfe it’s clearly states not to mail anything but rather to bring it to your interview. If you mail your medical as a stand alone it will get discarded.
