  • Interview experience Santa Ana/CA Field Office and timeline

I had my Green Card interview in Santa Ana/CA field office on Nov 5th.

I applied under EB-2 with NIW and my wife applied as spouse.

The interview went smoothly, all the yes/no questions and I took a folder with all my published papers, the officer did not want the ones she had on file, but got the ones I published after the application. From my wife she asked how we met etc and as we met in Brazil and had same sex union legal proof from 2008 + our marriage certificate from US 2016, it was easy. The officer got all the credit card statements that we took, car loan, car insurance, house rental contract, did not take and even look at our tax reports (but we had it all).

We had 3 folders with us. 1 for my wife, with all the proof of our relationship + her job info, passports etc.

I had 2 folders. 1 - all my academic proof, CV, updated google citation page + all published papers
    1. All documents requested.

The interview took about 30 min, the office had to take a copy of our I612 and one of my wife’s passport stamps and asked us to wait outside in the waiting area for about more 15 min. She called us back and already gave us the letter of approve of the application.

When we were leaving, my wife noticed her last name had a typo, we went back, the front office re-checked on the computer if all was typed correct and gave her a new and correct letter.

On Nov 9 our status changed in the system to card being produced. Nov 12 card was sent and we received Nov 14.

Happy ending! There is hope to you all, have patience and try to sleep with the anxiety. The wait is horrible, the whole process drives us to the edge, but there is hope for a happy ending!
