  • Can I use birth certificate issued in Consulate office for I-485?

Hello. I'm in the process for my green card application through marriage (I-485). I recently got a RFE for missing birth certificate. I'm a Canadian but I was born in Bangladesh. I got a birth certificate from the consulate in Toronto, Canada. Will this be acceptable or would I actually have to get a copy of birth certificate from Bangladesh? I already checked

which states that birth certificates from consulate/embassy would do just fine but I just want to make sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Plan to get your birth certificate from the Birth Place Registration Office in Bangladesh. Im sure your passport shows your place of birth and that should match with the Birth certificate. Don;t take a chance by substituting the original proof of birth. Good Luck to you
