I suspect companies aren’t responding because they know how unpredictable (read: unreliable) the USCIS can be with their timelines. I understand that from their point of view it’s pointless to use HR resources to screen applicants who can’t be reliably hired given their tenuous/pending employment status.

On another note, if you’re still a student, your status remains F-1 (or whichever) as long as you maintain courseload that qualifies as full-time. Once you’ve filed your AOS, you could technically drop the courseload, lose the F-1 status, and still legally remain in the US due to your pending application. However, bear in mind that should your AOS be denied, you will be out of status and cannot fall back into the F-1 once you lose it.
    Hi manhattanite,
Thanks for you replying. I dont know how USCIS identify risk of severe financial hardship. Actually, my parents still supports me now, but I want to make money by my own. You know living in bay area costs too much. Can I request expedited in this situation?

Most important to me is I dont want to gap after I this month graduation, and next month will be a new grad to find job. A lot of position will open next month, I do not want to miss them.

and Can I ask whats your filling location?
I see your PD is 7 days earlier than me, but you already received interview schedule invitation.
Will your comb card be coming in next week? I see most of fillers receive comb card within a week after "ready to schedule interview'.

I also don't know how the USCIS defines "severe financial hardship". However, it seems that several people have successfully expedited their EAD processing, so maybe browse the forums for some more information. I don't have much to offer on that topic unfortunately.

I'm filing out of the worst possible place: New York City (Manhattan). And no, I don't expect to receive my EAD or AP until next March. Hope for the best, expect the worst.
