  • Birth Certificate and Marriage certificate questions

    Hello,

    3 questions:

Do I (USC) need to include my birth certificate OR US passport is enough. My birth is not US based.

Also, when translating wife's birth certificate, the only requirement is to have proper wording on the translation/notary statement, correct? It does is not necessary has to be licensed translator, just someone who is competent/fluent with proper statement notarized?

Is marriage certificate required to be original/certified OR copy is fine?

    Thanks

You are petitioning your wife? Valid US passport by itself is sufficient for proof of US citizenship, or you can provide Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, or CRBA by itself. Your birth certificate would not be useful.

Doesn't need to be a licensed translator or notarized. The translator needs to certify that the translation is complete and accurate, and they are competent to translate.

A copy of a certified copy. For example, when you get a marriage certificate in the US, it is already a certified copy, and then you can send a photocopy of that.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
