Period of Living Apart

I have a few concerns perhaps people in forum can help me address. I sponsored my finance (now wife) almost two years ago. We must file for a status adjustment around December. However, I will be moving to Hong Kong next month to work for a year or two before returning to the States. Here are my concerns:

1. Will living separately give us any problems adjusting my wife's status?
2. Should I notify anybody regarding my move?
3. We currently live together in an apartment with both of our names on the lease. When I move, she is thinking about moving to a new apartment and co-leasing with a classmate. Is this advisable?

I have a similar problem and am trying to investigate the same as well. From what I have seen so far if there are legitamate reasons to live apart I believe it is ok (I say this because I do not know of any part of the law that says otherwise, if so hopefully we will be informed here). From what I know the most important part is the hearing before your approved, there the officers will investigate the legitimacy of the marriage and you can tell them why you live apart. You must at that point provide satisfactory evidence of the marriage: pictures, comingling of finances etc., know each others family a plus, I have seen that a proof of a past together is good, and being in love is a the greatest i hope lol. I would definately suggest getting a lawyer because it gives you 'peace of mind' and you know that you are moving along correctly. As far as my lawyer goes he has said that it is best to be living together. I will ask monday about living apart and tell you.

In my situation I have to live apart from my wife since I have not graduated from college yet and do not have the needed monetary foundation yet. We started the adjustment of status abpruptly because she is from Juarez, Mexico which is the most violent city in the world and she is a reporter/ tv anchor. I want her to be safe!!

I have to go but will return with any information I obtain.
