We’re supposed to, but I don’t. First week of getting my greencard, I was carrying it coz of excitement and job, then I decided to leave it in my house, the next day, I lost my wallet.
Imagine losing your gc a week after getting it. That would be crazy. Since then I decided to just leave it at home.

I don’t as I fear of losing it. Keep in mind that it could take up to a year just to get a replacement card.

I literally bought a fireproof baggie for it and it is staying hidden at home, in safety. I do not want to deal with immigration until the day i decide to become a citizen.
especially now, with real ID, there is absolutely no need to carry it around. Real ID itself proves your legal presence. So why take the chance?

Omg I’m with you... It does say in the approval notice that it is the law to have it with you at all times but I don’t want to lose it! I don’t plan on carrying mine with me at all times for fear of losing it...

I went all the way when it comes to being crazy about losing it or it getting damaged lol. I read the fireproof boxes will usually resist fire for about half and hour or something like that. So i found that baggie and it should surprisingly last longer, so i bought that. #crazyhasgotnolimithere lol

Hell to the no! I had my purse stolen years ago. It cost me like $750 just to replace it. Never again. I carry a back and front copy in my wallet. One day I was at a friend's house when ICE came looking for her. I had to produce my GC to prove I wasn't her. I gave them the copy, they pulled up my A number on their tablet, enlarged the most recent pic in their system, compared faces and said okay, tell **** to call us and gave me back my copy. My advice, leave your card safe at home. In all my years as an LPR that was the only time I was ever asked for it other than for travel or work.
