  • So frustrated, need urgent help!

    My husband and I went to our 1st interview today. For some reasons (I believe because my husband was nervous), we were separated to ask questions after a few minutes. We missed a few because both my husband and my short memories. The interviewer then threaten my husband to write her a letter in two weeks to either confess that our marriage is fraud or we want to appeal the case. We are extremely confused and frustrated, and don't know what to do........We don't even receive her decision yet. Anyone has any ideas what to do. Shall we wait for the decision letter or shall we write a letter to her.
    Any suggestion would be helpful.....
    Thank you

    Do you have a lawyer?

    It sounds like you might need a lawyer. Your local USCIS office can provide you with the names of lawyers and where you can get free or discounted legal advice.

    How long were you actually in the interview? What questions were asked that you got wrong? How long were you interviewed before you were separated? What evidence had you sent in? What evidence did you bring with you? Did you show any of it? How long have you been married? How long have you known each other? How did you meet? Etc.

    The answers to these questions and more might enable someone here to give you more specific advice, but regardless, I think you should get a lawyer. If you aren't even sure what is going on, you won't know how to address it on your own. This is a case where a lawyer would be really helpful.

      I have been in the exact same place as you. my husband is from mexico and we got married (I am US citizen). We went to our first interview without our lawyer and were asked questions about everything from what we were doing 2 years ago one the 4th of July to the name of the cat in the picture and were separated and asked questions which alot of them we answered differently...later we found out that they should have let us explain our differences in the questions and to no surprise we were denied. We reapplied and had the 2nd interview and took our lawyer with us eventhough it wasnt cheap and got approved and were never asked crazy questions as before and they didnt even have our file so they couldnt have known what happened in our last interview.My suggestion is to talk to a lawyer and/or write a letter saying that it is for love and if you werent given the chance to explain your differences say that in your letter. We wrote a letter to the office after the interview and got very nasty and to the point eventhough we were denied before they received the letter. My guess is that they will deny you but you can re apply. They say things that make you feel like you want to give up but don't...its just their way of tricking you...you will not believe how many times I wanted to give up but just keep pushing through and dont let them win. good luck with everything

          our interview also went same way and we only missed one question but she said no decision after the interview,our interview was on 23rd and she said because we where newly marriage she has to separate us and she explain to us that is the law. but after the interview i asked the interviewer is that all and she said we will get a decision in 30days.she took some of our picture as evidence,but she did not take my husband EAD or I-94,she only we will get a decision in mail.do you guys no what this mean. the question we missed was because of time difference.do u think we are approved its 11days now after interview.my husband is so worried.

            Same here !

            Hello Prettygirl1 , My wife and I had the same situation couple of weeks back and we were separated from the start and asked a lot of questions , but I had no idea that it might be coz the newly wed scenario. at the end there was no decision reached and we were just told to wait and also she did not take the EAD but she took the I94.Does that make a difference - Please Advise. Hopefully we can keep both informed and see if there is any update. BTW where were you interviewed ?

            let me know ,
            Thanks for sharing with everyone, bye !

            Chris !

              We failed from the interview with couple questions , then they sent us a letter says , u need to satisfy us why you answered these missing questions by showing some proves . Then we sent our letter with the right explanations for these couple questions that we answered wrong with more marriage documents and proves to satisfy them .
              After 3 months we got a letter which was saying your application declined because we never heard from u . We sent our letter with certified mail and they received and signed it . But after a while they lost it and declined our marriage . Then I got an interview right away to hand our papers to the officer over there . But they didnt accept from hand . Then I sent one more time with certified mail to them which they received and signed for it.
              Now , we have been waiting for 6 months and didnt hear anything from them because of their mistake . Is there anybody have an idea what can be happen?
