Happy New year everyone,
I went to the DMV to renew my DL based on 180 day extension of my EAD. DMV said their policy states that they count 180 days from receipt date on I-797, instead of expiration date on EAD. Since I applied for the EAD renewal in August but EAD expired late Dec, the DL will be renewed for only 31 days.
National benefit center is still working on May application meaning it might be another 3 months before EAD card arrived.
My EAD is valid for the additional 180 days but I will be stuck and unable to drive to work because NC DMV won't honor that.
Anyone with any knowledge of this policy or ideas on what I can do? My plan is to try a different DMV.
