  • Bringing I-693 to I-485 Interview

    Hi,

I have my I-485 interview in a few days at the San Francisco FO. I am planning to bring my completed I-693 (medical examination) with me to the interview. Does anyone know if bringing the medical examination form (rather than submitting it in advance) slows down the approval/processing of the GC?

    Thanks,
    Garreth

The courtesy letter states DO NOT MAIL DOCUMENTS AT THIS TIME, then goes on further to say if you do mail something they did not ask of you it will slow down your progress. Simply put, do your medical bring it to the interview still sealed. The officer will ask you for it and if he doesn’t acknowledge that you have it in your possession and hand it over. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I guess the question I wanted to ask is slightly different than whether to mail/bring the medical exam. I have read a few posts where people find out very soon after their interview (sometimes the same day) whether their GC has been approved. I was wondering if anyone knows whether, by bringing the medical exam to the interview, the approval process is slowed down because, for example, the medical exam needs to be sent elsewhere to be reviewed.

No taking the medical to the interview doesn’t slow the process. As a matter of fact the officer you hand it to is the one that reviews that letter. Don’t worry about it too much. Just bring it with you.

Yes, I just spoke with a specialty agency, and also asked previous lawyer.

Special agency who filled a form all the time and, lawyer told me the process will slow down, and you will not have decision at the interview.

I have read a couple of posts from people that bring the medical exam to the interview and got the approval the same day.

In reply to NYC/she That’s not true. Sorry but I can’t agree. Why would that slow the process? The officer overseeing the interview merely looks over the pages to ensure they were all signed and dated etc. it’s no more of a process than when the officer looks over your documents after you’ve left to make a final conclusion.

Thanks, all. I had my interview this morning in SF. It lasted about half an hour. The Officer asked me for my I-693 at the beginning of the interview, opened it, and added it to my file right away. After the interview, I had an approval notification on my phone within the hour. So, if there was any doubt--no, bringing your medical forms to the interview does not slow down the approval process.

                          Hello

In my own experience, back in 2017. I took my sealed I693 (medical document) with us to the actual interview, since the one they had on file would have been expired by the interview date. We did not wait until the interviewer asked us for the envelop. We handed it to her right after she summed up all her questions. We got our approval right that minute, with an updated case on their website by the time we drove out of the parking lot. However, my husband just reminded me that our on the spot approval was mainly successful because we had a boat-load of evidence that supported our bonafide, legitimate marriage as well. So with all documents, including the sealed I693, given as evidence we got an immediate approval. Please see our experience in this link which also includes a list of what we took to the interview. WE TOOK A LOT. We left nothing to chance. https://www.immihelp.com/forum/adjus...a-pd-july-2017

                          All the best.
