  • Interview Scheduled but Cancelled Day Of

My wife and I had an interview scheduled 2 days ago so we showed up. Upon having our number called, we were told that they could not do the interview due to our file not having been received. We waited a really long time for this so to hear this really, really devastated us. We're wondering what we can do right now to expedite the rescheduling process.

It's also important to note that this week we went through a pretty nasty snow storm so I'm wondering if the IO officer just called in sick and they used the "file not received" as an excuse. Anyone have experience with this? Any tips on what we can do? We literally had to push off 3 months of planning that was contingent on this interview. We're desperate to get the rescheduling done ASAP and not have to wait months.

    Please help...

I don't think there is a way to expedite an interview if they just canceled it. I hope you get a new interview date soon. Good luck.

sangwon04 hate to be the bearer of bad news but once an interview is cancelled, there isn't much we can do. Mine was cancelled and its been that way sine August. I do call once a month to raise an SR but so far, nothing. All we can do is wait. Additionally, I was told that it is possible that "File not received" is the reason. It is because your FO is the one that schedules your interview, however, the office you filed in (based on first three letters of receipt notice) are the ones that are sending your file over to FO. If they don't send the whole, or something is missing from file, they can't complete your interview. At least that's what I was told. Also possible that they overbooked queue for the day, not enough IO to take case for the day, etc.... Good luck!

I'm sorry you had the cancellation. While it may delay plans continue to use the wait as a time to collect more evidence. Also, the delayed time may work in your favor so that you would get a green card with 10 years rather than 2 years (depending on the length of your marriage). All the best.
