Everyone receives that type of SSN card.
Once you get your GC you can go to your local SS office and ask for a new card (will be with the same number) that doesn't show that legend.

You should be able to get a driver's license in most (if not all) states.
With a driver's license with Real-ID, you can travel by plane inside the US without problems. No need to bring the SSN card.

There’s no worries about flying. You can do it with a foreign passport, REAL ID license or the employment card itself. Don’t carry around the SS Card, keep it in a safe place.

Depending on the state, being EAD, I485 Receipt Notice and SS card when applying for a driver license. Plus two proofs of address.

My employment card is not a combo card. It states at the bottom “not for reentry to the US” so I’m guessing I can’t fly with it?

As for flying within the US, can I just get an ID from the motor vehicles & travel with that or it has to be a drivers license?

You can't fly abroad with that card because you will not be able to return to the USA (no Advance Parole).

As Lobster93 said, you can use your passport and I bet you can travel within the USA with your EAD (not combo) too. I think you can use a state id if you don't want to get a license. After October 1, 2020, to travel within the USA must be a passport or Real ID document.

More information on Real ID: https://www.tsa.gov/real-id
The list of authorized documents: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification
              One of them is:
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)

and that is what you have, even if it doesn't work for coming back from international travel.
