No, I haven't got any update of I-765 since I submitted the immigration package. I guess they think as long as they can process the green card thing quickly, the I-765 application would not be necessary anymore. BTW, If it were not for the coronavirus, I would take the interview on May 05.

Everything is through the fax, you do not have to send anything physically through the mail.

And about the cover letter, it was simply, I just explained the situation and mentioned the list of the documents attached.

My situation is a little different. Now my 485 is waiting for the interview to be scheduled. We DID NOT submit the working permit application at that moment before COVID things. I mailed out the I765 package under C9 category this week to see if they will process my EAD application if they can't schedule any in-person interview.

                    Concurrent filled I485,I130,I131,I864,medical reports
                    1/17 USPS for mailing
                    1/18 USPS delivered
                    1/24 credit card charges posted
                    1/26 received three text notices (I485, I130, I131)
2/05 received paper I797c in the mail
2/07 received biometric appointment notice in the mail
                    2/19 completed biometric appointment
3/06 RFE notice sent from USCIS
3/12 RFE letter received in the mailbox by us (request for birth certificate)
                    ...
4/06 case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
4/27 I765 packaged mailed out through USPS
