  • I-485 pending for 2 years

My wife and I got married in August 2014, I was visiting on a j-1 visa, and we got married before my visa expired. We didn't apply for adjustment of status until 2017 when we submitted all required paperwork for i-130,
i-765, i-485. I have received my work permit a few months after. In March, we had our permanent green card interview. We submitted all required paperwork and multiple evidence, proving our marriage is real.
The officer who interviews us, at the end of the interview stated that everything went perfect and that my case has been approved. I asked him if he should stamp my passport when he replied to uscis doesn't stamp passport any longer but not to worry my case needs approval from a supervisor, and I will be receiving welcome notice in a few weeks followed by actual green card. Like stated above, that interview was in March 2018, 2 months passed by, and I started to wonder what happened and if something went wrong. Going back to what the officer told us, I was expecting my green card to arrive. By the end of 2018 I have submitted a few case inquiries that have not been responded to. I had scheduled a few info pass appointments, but unfortunately, they have not been successful either. USCIS employees didn't have an answer, why is my case being delayed. I started to think they have lost my paperwork, which happened to a lot of people based on Google search. Fast forward to January 2020, the decision on my green card has not been made. I have submitted in total over 15 case inquiries, plus a few more over the phone with an actual immigration officer. I have contacted ombudsman to help me solve this issue, and unfortunately, they haven't received any concrete answer from uscis accept that my i-485 is still pending. Due to the interviewing officer's statement that my green card will arrive a few weeks after the interview, I haven't re-applied for the renewal of my i-765 until 07/26/2019. To make things wors I got my wallet stolen (i have police report) with my old work permit, my employer recently has fired me due to not be able to provide valid proof of work. I don't have any ID, Drivers license, health care due to all my documentation been stolen. i have been trying to expedite my work permit since I desperately need a job, but USCIS has not been co-operating. I wanted to share my story with you, with the hope you have advice on how to approach this situation. Thank you!

Why you do not go to Your local congressmen. 2 years is a very very long time. Also you can sue USCIS - Mandamus. You need to hire a lawyer

Please hire a lawyer and consider suing USCIS - Mandamus as the user above has suggested.

Thank you for all your answers. I have recently contacted both congressman and senator, and I waiting to see if the could help to resolve this matter. Do any of you know a good lawyer?

Look for an immigration lawyer in your area with a track record of filing and winning mandamus cases for persons in your situation. Provided that you gave us the full story, the faster you file a good mandamus, the faster you'll have your green card.
