  • No Status Update After Green Card Interview

    Hello everyone,

We just had our AOS I-485 Green Card Interview on Monday, Feb 3, 2020 in Houston, TX.

Everything seems to went well, the interview took around 20-30 minutes and the IO was very friendly and only asked a few questions and also looked at all of our documents. My wife and I were interviewed together and after the interview, the IO said that he doesn't usually give the answer directly after the interview.

The IO said that everything looks good though and we should receive a letter, stating whether we are approved or not, in the mail in 2 weeks, if not, then it may take up to 60 days.

We were disappointed because we wanted to know right away. The IO didn't give us any letter or anything after the interview.

I checked my case status online and the case status still says "Interview was Scheduled" and hasn't been updated yet. I know it's only been a day after the interview, but from what I read of other people's experiences, some had their case status changed hours or a day after the interview.

Have anyone ever experienced something like this?

Be patient. Mine took a few business days before I got that “card is being produced” notification. My guess is our IO took his time in reviewing the new joint evidence that we presented during the interview. Hopefully you’ll get the approval soon!

Have you contacted them back about the case? You usually have to call them back after 60-90 days if you didn't receive any updates.

That's so familiar to me. The IO who interviewed my husband and I said the same thing. He said we did okay, and he's not the type to approve the same day. Like you, we were bummed out. But the next day, we got an update saying, "Card is being produced", then the next day it said, "Case was approved". Keep checking, keep the faith! Hope all goes well.

Awesome Congrats! It's been a week already for us and still no updates. A week felt like a month to me and it's stressful. I don't understand why the IO said that everything looks good, but we're receiving no updates?

I understand. Where'd you have your interview? I know it will be alright. The IO said the same thing to us.

It's been 1 1/2 weeks since my interview so far. I just called USCIS and the officer put in a case status update request, so hopefully to receive an update soon. The officer in the phone call said that we should receive an update within 2 weeks or up to 30 days. Have you tried this yet?

Congrats to you! At least you got to know you were approved on the spot. From what I've read from other people, the online case status doesn't always update on-time. Some people received an online case status update after they received their approval letter.

We didn't receive any updates yet. The IO told us after the interview that everything looks good, but to just wait for the letter mail. Just playing the waiting game.

Yes, I called them and asked for a service request. They never responded to it. A few days ago I called USCIS again and put another service request...still waiting.
