My F-1 is expiring

I am currently under my F-1 and it'll be expired this coming May. I got married to a natural born US Citizen and we are about to submit paperwork for Adjustment of Status sometimes this month. However, I am worried about my F-1 status expiring soon. Do I really need to re-enroll or extend my F-1 just in case my AOS process will take longer than I expect?

You don't have to maintain your F1 status once you submit the AOS forms and get the receipt notice, you will have a legal pending status.
i did the same to my wife and everything went smooth and receiving the GC tomorrow.

Just want to remind you with one thing about giving up your F1 status, in case your AOS was denied you won't be able to get it back and i'm afraid you'll have to leave the country.
But i believe because you're married to a USC gives you extra protection and you can follow different procedures after denial.
So please consult a lawyer to get better advice.
From my experience if you have a strong case and been here legally during your whole stay then no need to worry about denial decision.

To be on the safe side, I will extend my F-1 visa for another semester until December (because it's free). My husband and I are gathering all the paperwork and we will send it soon.
