  • INTERVIEW SCHEDULED!! Need some advice preparing file for interview

Hi, everybody! Apologies in advance for this incredibly long post lol I found this forum a few days ago and it's been so helpful to read everybody's updates. I'm an October filler and we are waiting for the mail to know our interview date!!!!!! In the meantime I decided to start organizing the evidence file. I would appreciate your comments about it!!!

LONG STORY SHORT: We met on Tinder in 2016 and we started dating a few weeks after... he proposed in 2018 and we got married shortly after that. During the whole time i kept flying back and forth 'til 2019 when i finally stayed and later we send our file.

FILE: There's a few things I consider important for evidence, but we DON'T have.

    1. Wedding pictures: We eloped and decided to push the big celebration in order to save enough money for it, and plan it without stressing ourselves, our friends and fam (we want a destination wedding, weekend type of celebration). We are currently planning but I think the absence of wedding pictures can make the IO believe we are lying. We also haven't done any payment for the wedding, due to not knowing when I'll be able to start making money and also travel. We just have our rings, and a wedding agenda with all our ideas and desires.

    2. Joint accounts and finances: I haven't received a SSN either EAD, so its kinda hard for me to help with money when i'm not legally able to work. I think that's something we can explain and the IO could understand. For that reason we don't have a joint bank account; he also.tried to add me to his Company's Insurance but they denied as I'm not a resident.

    3. I haven't change my last name.

NOW WHAT WE DO HAVE: I saw 4ever's threat (thank you so much if you're reading) and I changed it with our information. I think it's a great base to wok with (I changed dates and names to YYYY to post it here). This is what I have.

        Dear all,

"Someone" came to our house few weeks before the interview, knocked at the door and ask if the husband is at home. Mother inlaw did not allow her to come in and told her we are not home that she is babysitting. The visitor again asked if the husband lived here, mother inlaw again responded that we are not at home. Mother inlaw did not respond yes or no to the question "does the husband live here?". This is because she said she is unaware if we are expecting a visitor. We presume this is from USCIS.

We had our interview couple of days ago, there was no yes or no questions, we were only asked about how we met, my husband was also asked about his ex-wife, and if he pays alimony to his ex, he responded that he does. The officer also asked me (i am the wife and a USC) if i am sure my husband wont leave me and i responded in the affirmative yes. There was no more questions. She never mentioned if someone visited or not. And she ask us to wait and handed us a letter requesting my husband to provide evidence that he pays alimony to his ex. The officer also requested that he provides more document showing the divorce. We only had 2 car documents and insurance. We do not have bank account cos my husband does not have EAD yet and we couldnt open account yet. We do not have lease together yet and this is because we plan to move from the house we currently live. I am currently on section 8 (ie government assisted housing) and i will be going out of it by next month since my husband and i decided to get an apartment together.

After the interview, the officer we are close to what she can approve but that we still have some differences and that she wont tell us what it is. She also mentioned that based on the fact that my husband is from (she mentioned his country which is in Africa) and the amount of fraud from there, that he has a lot of hurdle to cross.

At this point, we dont know what to expect. My husband is making arrangement to send the document the officer requested though.

I will like you all to advise based on your wealth of experience

When is your interview? I am also preparing a similar list of evidence. I think you have very good evidence even though you didn't have a wedding ceremony. Good luck for your interview.

                Pretty impressive file!
I’m currently putting mine together for our March interview. I have copies of my original marriage certificate, does anyone know if a certified copy is needed for interview when bringing the original and copies? Trying to avoid a trip to the clerks office if unnecessary

In my experience, IO didnt bother to check any of the evidence that had social media stuff in it.
He asked for our joint apartment lease, joint credit card accounts, and looked at the photo album that had my family members in it.
I say concentrate on the important documents such as statements, and anything joint.
                  goodluck!
