Pending i485 No EAD = no SSN

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this.

I just wanted to ask a question. My wife is USC and I am Canadian citizen. I have a pending i485, I didn’t get my EAD yet. We called to get Life insurance and health insurance but only my wife was able to get it they won’t sign me up because I don’t no have SSN yet. Did anyone had any luck getting health/life insurance without SSN, specially health insurance

Please share if anyone was able to get it.

I have health insurance from work and since day 1 I was able to add my spouse and kid to it without SSN. They had ITIN but the insurance didn't allow that and they sent a letter every 3 months to update their information with their SSN, I called a couple of times and they said that I don't have to worry, as soon as they get their SSN I can update the information and I won't receive any more letters.

As soon as they got their SSN I updated the information and no more letters. They were able to go to the doctor and the insurance applied without problems. I think this is state-specific or insurance requirements. We live in Texas.

I got insurance through my husband's job. They kinda gave him a hard time because I only had an ITIN but he insisted and they let him add me with the SSN pending.
