It might help us at least get biometric appointments and cards faster than your predictions... There are several people who (mostly after expediting), even without biometrics, got their EAD approved...
So I don't know, I just hope we are not stuck for the next 6 months.
It depends on what visa are you adjusting from. If you’re adjusting from a visa other than B1/B2 and have already had your fingerprints taken by USCIS before, then it’s a completely different story. But if you’re adjusting from B visa and try to expedite your EAD without biometrics, then good luck to you because I don’t see it happening. I’ve only read couple of experiences from people who’ve tried to do that to no avail, which makes sense since the whole point of biometrics is to vet you for national security and giving work permits and SS cards without doing so sounds a little silly.

It makes sense to expedite EAD after biometrics providing you’re facing hardship but prior to that, all you’re gonna hear from USCIS is to send in expedite request after you’ve had your biometrics. I don’t believe for a second that USCIS is just sitting there waiting for service requests to proceed with the cases. The general timeline for you to get EAD after sending in your application is 4-6 months and from hundreds of timelines I’ve studied here, majority of people receive their EAD in the 4th month after biometrics. Some actually have their I-485 approved before their EAD is approved. And now given these unprecedented circumstances, I’m setting realistic timeline for myself before I start to worry. Quite frankly I’m mentally prepared to be stuck in this limbo for over 6 months. If the case moves faster, I’ll be happy but if it doesn’t, I’m not gonna unnecessarily panic.

So far I’ve read one person reporting receiving biometrics appointment this week. Let’s see how long it takes for us. As of right now our I-765 is within processing time and btw, processing time for I-485 is currently at 9-30 months ballpark. I think we will have a better picture come August 3. If USCIS does furlough people then better unbuckle, sit back and relax lol. Good luck!

      Hey there,

Yep you're right, although, I don't know if the biometrics completion is the "starting point" of the processing time for EAD. Once it's done, especially after we've already waited so long, they should be able to approve it pretty fast... Hopefully.

I am and was not mentally prepared for that at all, I haven't worked for an entire year now, never been so poor in my life, felt so unsafe, there's a pandemic and I have no legal rights #lol.
I am here for someone, not for the place itself. I strongly disagree with the politics, the history and a big part of what makes this country, this country.

So I guess if it lasts too long, I'm just gonna pack my 6 rescued cats and my husband and fly back to my beloved friends and family in the southern French country, where I'll still be poor, but at least allowed to work, drive, exist and get treated in hospitals for free.

I think am just bracing until November, just to see.

Can you please share more light on your post by responding to the following:

              1. Which state are you?
              2. Did you have to contact USCIS, congressman or do something to help get you the biometric appointment date?
              3. Is the notice via email, online status check or hard copy paper mail?
              4. Did you get a prompt - email/text about the biometrics appointment date?

I agree that since we've waited so long and most certainly NBC has already gone through are application, we should have our EAD approved soon but like I said, to stay as calm and relaxed as possible during this waiting game, I'm just gonna assume that EAD will take 4 months from the date we have our biometrics done lol.

If one is going through marriage based AOS then I hope they moved because they truly love their spouse. As far as this country go, I absolutely love it for it's history, for what it was and what it is. I don't agree with the politics fully but then again, there is not a country on this planet whose politics I agree with. Anyway, all this is besides the point. I would suggest you to just hang in there. I feel what you're saying, but once you get your EAD and you start working, everything will start to fall in place. First year or two are always tough in a new country, you just need to grind through them and eventually you'll feel right at home. One thing is for sure, you can forget about free treatments LOL.

That is great news. And since they're your parents, your interview might be waived.

                    Hi Danny,

Reading you is always a pleasure, thanks for taking the time for those kind/ wise words.
I know about living in a new place, during the last 12 years, I lived in Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Thailand, Italy, Germany and Mexico, I never had so much trouble getting "official" .
And of course, there's good and bad in all our histories, I mean 70 years ago, my dear country was still abusing my ancestors in colonies...

And you're right, EAD will change everything, let's just hope that we'll get it soon. I want to drive, I want to see 3 numbers above zero on my bank account (I have modest dreams ) and I want to see my mum (I am also a grown-up).

Yesterday we got the good news about the delays in furloughs, maybe we'll get our biometrics appointments!
Now there's only this mysterious "merit-based immigration executive order" to hear about...

Thanks for sharing! Hopefully it means a notice will come in the mail in a couple of weeks for those of us with an ASC that reopened later

I just called USCIS and the lady said most of the field offices & ASC opened today and within 15 to 30 days, we’ll have the biometric appointment. Well, we have already waited 4 months now so 15 to 30 days won’t hurt.

                            • Hii Everyone - I just received my Biometrics Appointment letter today in the mail and I'm finally relieved. I've been waiting for a while now! My online case status is still not updated though. I am based out of Boston, MA and our ASC reopened on 7/27.

Here's my updated timeline so far:
3/16: Package sent to USCIS Chicago Lockbox
                              3/17: Package received by USCIS
                              3/20: Credit Card charged
                              3/24: Text notification from USCIS
                              3/27: 4 NOA/ I-767 Receipts in mail
7/31: Biometrics Appointment Letter in mail

                              Hope this helps!

Here's my updated timeline so far:
3/16: Package sent to USCIS Chicago Lockbox
                                3/17: Package received by USCIS
                                3/20: Credit Card charged
                                3/24: Text notification from USCIS
                                3/27: 4 NOA/ I-767 Receipts in mail
7/31: Biometrics Appointment Letter in mail

                                Hope this helps!
                                Congratulations for the step ahead...
Do you have USPS INFORMED DELIVERY for your mails? It’s been a long wait. Hopefully, we that applied on March 25, 2020 get that BIG smile ASAP!!????
Sitting home SUCKS!!! Especially for some of us who find ourselves in communities/Cities where we barely see people from our home country to associate with.

Hey guys, I have a concern and I’m worried. My passport expired earlier this month and the passport Department in my home country is closed indefinitely due to COVID-19. I do have a valid National ID and a Driver License from my country. I called USCIS and asked if I could use my National ID for biometric appointment if I’m scheduled, and the agent said “yes”. But I’m still uncertain because I understand that these agents are like customer service....sometimes they talked to you nicely because it’s part of their job....but they’re not the people you meet when you go to the ASC or Field Office. I stand to be corrected...

ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE ABOUT EXPIRED PASSPORT???
