    Hi!

Yes you're right, we just need to find the strength to wait a little bit more... My ASC reopened on 07/13, so only 45 more days approx. to make 90!
The worrying thing on my side is the absence of response about the expedite, this makes it look like they have no idea where my file is
Good luck, "We're all in this together" like they say

      • USCIS Averts Furlough of Nearly 70% of Workforce

“However, averting this furlough comes at a severe operational cost that will increase backlogs and wait times across the board, with no guarantee we can avoid future furloughs. A return to normal operating procedures requires congressional intervention to sustain the agency through fiscal year 2021.”

this is the saddest part for us!!!SMH

        Release Date
        08/25/2020
Drastic cuts will impact agency operations for foreseeable future

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services today announced that the agency will avert an administrative furlough of more than 13,000 employees, scheduled to begin Aug. 30 as a result of unprecedented spending cuts and a steady increase in daily incoming revenue and receipts.

USCIS expects to be able to maintain operations through the end of fiscal year 2020. Aggressive spending reduction measures will impact all agency operations, including naturalizations, and will drastically impact agency contracts.

“Our workforce is the backbone of every USCIS accomplishment. Their resilience and strength of character always serves the nation well, but in this year of uncertainty, they remain steadfast in their mission administering our nation’s lawful immigration system, safeguarding its integrity and protecting the American people, even as a furlough loomed before them,” said USCIS Deputy Director for Policy Joseph Edlow. “However, averting this furlough comes at a severe operational cost that will increase backlogs and wait times across the board, with no guarantee we can avoid future furloughs. A return to normal operating procedures requires congressional intervention to sustain the agency through fiscal year 2021.”

The additional cost savings come through the descoping of federal contracts that assist USCIS adjudicators in processing and preparing case files as well as a myriad of other support activities. Anticipated operational impacts include increased wait times for pending case inquiries with the USCIS Contact Center, longer case processing times, and increased adjudication time for aliens adjusting status or naturalizing. Naturalization ceremonies will continue. Previously, members of Congress requested that agency leadership avoid operational cuts of this magnitude. However, Congress must still act on a long-term solution that will provide USCIS with the necessary financial assistance to sustain the agency throughout FY 2021 and beyond.

Both! First an email on the 17th, stating my biometrics would be applied to I-131. Then a letter arrived on the 22nd, confirming that my biometrics would be applied to I-131 and there's no need for me to attend again to an ASC.

            • Hello everyone!

              Congrats @idinh91 for the bios!!

Today marks 20 days since my expedite request and I still have no news. Getting a bit desperate over here, still waiting for the Ombudsman's office to come back to me (it's already been a week they have requested infos about my case to USCIS)

I hope there's gonna be some class action fun after all this, cause I AM IN!!

I tried to reach out to other Floridian filers with a thread here, only two people replied : one in Orlando, is waiting for canceled bios to be rescheduled (not my case), and another person who filed later in 2020, is waiting for initial appointments too...

Assuming they are clearing old backlogs now, since you got your bio now, ill probably get it way more later.

Thanks, I hope so too, specially now they are not furloughing employees.
I'm expecting a job offer anytime and would need to expedite my EAD when that comes thru - but without fingerprints that wont even be possible so I hope I really get this done soon.

Just curious - did you get the bio notice in any other shape or form other than regular mail?
Like did you get a SMS/email/case status change online?

I'm expecting a job offer anytime and would need to expedite my EAD when that comes thru - but without fingerprints that wont even be possible so I hope I really get this done soon.

Just curious - did you get the bio notice in any other shape or form other than regular mail?
Like did you get a SMS/email/case status change online?
No I didn’t receive any other than a letter. The funny thing is that it takes forever to get one biometrics appointment but only takes few minutes to finish the fingerprint process.
