  • EAD and SSN ?????

    can u get a job with your EAD only or u have to also have your SSN ??? also how long does it takes to receive your SSN card after receiving EAD card ??

    I think you need your SSN. It usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to get the SSN card. I was able to get our numbers by visiting the SS office (before receiving the SSN card), but now they are closed to the public.
    Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
    Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
    Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

      You can use EAD as list A on the form I9. Then just provide the ssn. If you never have ssn before, you have to wait for the card. It takes around one month after you receive EAD.

        You can start work before you actually get the SSN, as long as you have applied for it.

            I received my work permit on April 2. Still no SSN. I called to SSA and they do not have me in the system.
            My father in law got his GC on March 25, and he is in the same situation
