  • i-944 for parent with 485

We are filling out the i-944 for a parent in conjunction with i-485.

If my income from my job on the i-864 is sufficient, do we have to declare her assets like house in her home country, etc? We don't have access to evidence of ownership for these items, so since my income on the i-864 is >125% poverty level it would be easier to not declare them all. Do we need to or is it optional?

If so, how do we explain lack of evidence? She is already inside the country and arrived 5 months ago on a visitor visa. Since she wasn't planning to immigrate at that time, all the documentation is at her house outside the country and she can't travel right now. Do we just write an explanation for that?

I don't know if the I-944 asks for proof of ownership. Is always needed to fill the forms truthfully. If the form asks for proof, then you can explain you don't have the information with you because you didn't plan to file for AOS on your trip.
Note: this is just a guess on my part, I'm no expert. I didn't file I-944 and haven't read all the form or the instructions.
