Hello everyone,
Hope y'all are doing ok in those crazy times.
So my question is: I did check the box to receive my SSN with my work permit. I got my work permit May 19 2020, no updates on SSN so I decided to call my field office in FL since it was longer than 7 days that USCIS advise to wait. First of all, the lady that was on the phone was surprised that I can get SSN with EAD and that someone told me to contact them after 7 days, as usually it takes 2-4 weeks. Then she asked for my USCIS number on my work permit, checked something and said that I have to come to the field office with necessary documents and fill out the application. I asked her when do they going to open the office back to what she answered "oh we don't know maybe in 2 weeks but not sure, you can call the 1-800 number sometime next week and ask maybe they give you updates". Well, I don't think it's good when person that works in the office doesn't know when they are going to open the office again...but anyway
My question is - how long did you guys wait/still wait for SSN? what if I go there and by some miracle my SSN comes in the mail next day? Do they control those things in any way?
Thanks in advance
PS here is my timeline if anyone is interested
Nov 2019 - sent papers to USCIS
Dec 2019 - fingerprints done
March 2020 - RFIE
April 2020 - sent additional evidence to USCIS
April 27th 2020 - your case is ready to be scheduled for interview
May 6th 2020 - EAD was approved
May 19th 2020 - EAD in hand
Hope y'all are doing ok in those crazy times.
