  • No Biometrics Submitted; EAD Approved but No Card; Pink Courtesy Letter (for I-693)

    Hi!

I'm in the Adjustment of Status phase of the GC process and this is a summary of key events (in that order). I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could share thoughts on the questions I have below.

    Summary of Events:
    - Got biometrics invites but all got rescheduled AND eventually cancelled due to COVID-19 and USCIS closing. No biometrics submitted till date.
    - EAD got approved (04/22) but it's been several months and no update on whether the card is being produced.
    - Received a pink courtesy letter (~ two weeks ago) to submit I-693 in person during interview or via RFE

    My questions are:
    1. Regarding EAD: Is it normal to wait thing long to get the card sent? There has been no update saying the card has been produced or sent -- it just says my case has been approved. I'm getting worried because I've been out of work for quite a while now.

    2. I-693 Request: When should I expect an interview scheduled? Most experiences shared here state that they got an interview scheduled sometime after the letter but no concrete examples of timelines.

    3. Has anyone gone through this process and gotten this far without submitting biometrics? I heard they may have been waived (since I got my EAD approved, I'm assuming that's true.

I have read a few cases when they approve the EAD but don't send it to production. The best thing you can do is call them until someone change the system and send it to production.

There is no timeline that set a fixed number of weeks/months after you receive the letter. Sometimes it is a couple of months and sometimes 9 months or more. You need to shop around for the best prices and check if you find an authorized civil surgeon that is doing the medical exams.

Of course, this is the first case I read that no biometrics were done, but that has to be with the pandemic. Good luck.
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

Yeah, I'd called them earlier and the Customer Service rep said I should call after 60 days. I'll definitely try to get a hold of someone there again.

Thanks for the advice on this -- I'll make plans in advance to handle this. Thanks for your reply!

I think they are waiting for a fingerprint and photo. So I will came to office if they are open in Your area. The card cannot be blank and without fingerprint for a Safety purpose

Many others have received EADcEAD without biometrics during the pandemic. You send two identical photos with your application so the card won't be blank, but your fingerprint will obviously not be on your EAD card.

If it's stuck at approved and never goes to production that has been a glitch for others as well. Just contact USCIS about it and they tend to be good sometimes with fixing the issues.
