  • RFE vs RFIE

Hello Ppl...I have been reading different threads and discussions and I may have a dumb question:

Is there a difference between "RFE" and "RFIE" request? I know there is a difference of "Initial" but interms of processing the I485 application, is there a difference?

Context: I got my EAD and AP and I got RFIE for I693 medical back in April after my case got transferred so I am wondering if I could guess the time it would take to approve the case. My case is employment based.

    Parole approved - Mar 5 2020
    I140 approved - Mar 10 2020
    RFIE - Medical - Apr 23
    RFIE response sent - May11
    RFIE received message - May14/18

RFIE is asking for documentation that you should have included to begin with (INITIAL)
RFE is asking for more MORE than what was required.

Case processing stops till the evidence is received. Then depending on how deep they want to go into the details, processing times vary.

For I-693, the review is much faster than other documents. However, if the USCIS is backlogged, then the average time, even for simple matters lengthens.

Opinion only. Cannot be construed as legal advice.

Did you send the I693? The status changed to received? Is your PD current? Please report back when they approve your GC.

I sent the i693 4 weeks back and it changed to received and processing 3 weeks back. My priority date is current. My lawyers did say I need to work on i693 upon request and even they were surprised when I got a rfie for it. I know some ppl have received a rfe and some have received courtesy letter. Don’t know how different they are and how does it change in terms of processing, let’s see!! Fingers crossed.

Usually, when they send an RFIE/RFE for I693 the interview is going to be waived.

I have read several cases from people that got the courtesy letter, the received an RFE for I693 and GC approval without an interview (during Covid-19). Good luck.

I have a question guys... I have replied to rfe for i693 on Jun 11 (status received by USCIS). I am on H4 visa with ead. When should I follow up to see the progress on i693?
Our PD is current and I have already received the Ead and AP card
