There is a reason they sent you to that field office rather than the one that's closest to you. It's best you keep the appointment you have instead of trying to change it and end up waiting another year for an appointment at the field office closer to you.

      FYI: USCIS posted this yesterday:

      https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-rele...fiscal-outlook

It shows the whitehouse also supports emergency funding USCIS, so the ball is with congress (who probably do nothing for political reasons) right now it seems else 75% of USCIS is furloughed first week of august. I wonder what that will do to interviews.

We live in southern Missouri and the St. Louis Field Office is WAY closer to us than the Kansas City one. I'm wondering if I could possibly move my Interview to St. Louis? Or if that's even a possibility? It would save us 3+ hours of driving.
I guess your paperwork/case is already assigned to an officer on that location.

In what way does this article explains that the whitehouse supports emergency funding of USCIS? I may have missed that part. From my understanding this article is only explaining that USCIS has sent documents to congress asking for funds and explaining how they’ll pay it back.

In the article, there are two attachment PDF files. One is named: Office of Management and Budget (PDF, 2.39 MB).

            https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/...OMB_letter.pdf

This pertains to a letter sent by Office of Management and Budget. This is a white house function and sent by Russell T. Voug, who works for President Trump.

            It was sent to:

            The Honorable Richard C. Shelby
            The Honorable Jerrold Nadler
            The Honorable Jim Jordan
            The Honorable Lindsey 0. Graham
            The Honorable Dianne Feinstein
            The Honorable Kay Granger
            The Honorable Nita M. Lowey
            The Honorable Richard C. Shelby
            The Honorable Patrick J. Leahy

(I may be wrong as i am not a politician nor expert but to me it looks like the ball is with congress as such. And in my view, the democrat house however will be unlikely to do anything that would make Trump look less bad in Election year for maximum effect. I.e. the narrative is that Trump is anti immigration. If the house funds immigration, that narrative is less strong than if they do not fund it). Anyway, thats my 2ct. I may be naive but either spin of the dime, politics are played with our lives; the house has sat on this since May and done nothing. I wont be surprised if USCIS closes, and only then congress swoops in like a savior and funds it after this had ample media attention)

A copy of the letter below:

            <<>>><<<<>>>>><<<<
            June 19,2020
            The Honorable Richard C. Shelby
            Chairman
            Committee on Appropriations
            United States Senate
            Washington, DC 20510
            Dear Mr. Chairman:
On May 18, 2020, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
(USCIS) briefed the House and Senate Homeland Security Appropriations
Subcommittees on its financial status. As USCIS has detailed, the agency began
experiencing a significant decline in Immigration Examination Fee Account non-
premium fee receipts in mid-March due to the impact ofCOVID-19. The decline became
more significant in April. At the time USCIS provided technical assistance to the
Congress, fee receipts were expected to be more than 60 percent below initial forecast for
the remainder of the fiscal year. In addition, USCIS saw a 51 percent year-over-year
decline in receipts, based on a comparison of receipt volumes for a two-week period in
March/April 2020 against receipt volumes in the equivalent period in 2019. While
USCIS continues to analyze available data to refine revenue and spending projections, it
remains apparent that US CIS will not have sufficient funding to maintain operations
through the end of the fiscal year, nor will USCIS have balances to fund its operations
during the first quarter of fiscal year 2021.
The Administration supports efforts to ensure US CIS operations continue as fee
revenues rebound, and to ensure that such efforts come at no additional cost to taxpayers.
Accordingly, USCIS proposes a cost recovery surcharge approach that would recoup all
funding needed to sustain near-term operations. USCIS is continuing to work to identify
near-term mitigation strategies to help address the fee revenue shortfall issue. The Office
of Management and Budget supports USCIS's "pay it forward" deficit neutral approach
to ensure full cost recovery of any additional emergency funding provided by the U.S.
            Treasury to USCIS.

            Sincerely,
            Russell T. Voug
            Acting Director
            aught

            Identical Letter Sent to:
            The Honorable Jerrold Nadler
            The Honorable Jim Jordan
            The Honorable Lindsey 0. Graham
            The Honorable Dianne Feinstein
            The Honorable Kay Granger

I also have another weird question that I hope someone might know the answer to..
We live in southern Missouri and the St. Louis Field Office is WAY closer to us than the Kansas City one. I'm wondering if I could possibly move my Interview to St. Louis? Or if that's even a possibility? It would save us 3+ hours of driving.
Bro: Just drive that 3 hours for that interview to get done with that process. I would fly 6 hours to California just to get it done. If not, you may ask USCIS to change the date and location for you if waiting for at least a year is not a problem for you.
              05/08/20: I-485, I-765, I-131, I-944 sent to USCIS
05/13 Rejected due to lack of I-864
              05/27 resubmitted with explanation
              06/03 Rejected again-same reason
              06/13 Resubmitted with I-864
07/07 Lockbox emailed back and ask to resubmit
07/09 Filings accepted with PD 05/08/20 (nice)
08/06 Prior biometrics applied to I485
08/28 Took biometrics for I-765 only
              09/28 I-765's Cards Ordered
              10/02 EAD/AP received

Bobbi_Smith If I were you I would just drive 3 hours and get it over with it. It is not worth it to make any changes whatsoever, as it will only result in further delay of your case. Good luck!
