  • Unauthorized Work

Hello guys I have a question. So my beautiful grandmother received her approval of Advance Parole (PIP) in the mail yesterday. She’s now ready to apply for her adjustment of status. She’s worried because she worked for 15 years without authorization from 2000-2015. Will this disqualify my grandmother for applying for her green card? Please help. Thank you in advance for your inputs.

No, it won't affect her AOS. If she got PiP, she must be in the Immediate Relative category (spouse, parent, or unmarried under-21 child of US citizen), and unauthorized work doesn't affect AOS for people in the Immediate Relative category. She would need to answer yes to the questions on I-485 asking about unauthorized work.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
