  • Should I send I-693 without RFE/where to send it?

Hello, I submitted I-140 on 06-2019 (EB2-NIW), and I-485 on 07-2019. The I-140 got approved 2 weeks ago. I got no RFE or interview schedule notice for I-485 yet.

This week I completed the I-693 (only for $180 in Boston, you get good deals if you call couple places).

I am reading I-485s getting approved without interviews for employment-based categories, and hoping that my case would be like that as well. So, to expedite the process, do you think it makes sense for me to mail my I-693, without waiting the RFE for it? If so what address should I send it to? To the original address I submitted I-485 to? To the address that is on I-797 for the I-140 approval?

Thanks so much for your help!

We are having the same thoughts, and the answer is not so clear.

Our conclusion is NO, unless they update the I-693 form (and thus the old form wouldn't be accepted anymore), though it likely would work out if you did send it unsolicited.

You would send it to the address listed on the most recent notice (I-797) that has been mailed to you. For us, that'd be to Lee's Summit, Missouri.

The USCIS policy manual used to clearly state that they would like us to wait for a RFE or interview. They changed it to be less clear two years ago, but it seems to be still saying to wait.

I dont think you should send anything in unless they request it. I have seen several warnings, including in the i693 courtesy letter that i received whereby USCIS explicitly states: "DO NOT MAIL DOCUMENTS AT THIS TIME. Mailing documents before receiving one of the notices reference above may result in a delay to your case." I chose not to risk delay.

NO, it would be a waste.
Get the medicals done (if you want to be prepared) but only send the I-693 when you get the RFE.
The RFE letter needs to be enclosed with the documents.

froteros Did you get RFE eventually? We are in same situation. Six months passed since I-485 applied. No RFE yet. Got our I-693 done. Thinking about sending or waiting for RFE?

Wait for RFE or a letter to bring it to your interview.
