I don't want anything to get lost in the mail and miss my appointment. Any advice as to how to submit change of address with the pending application is much appreciated.

Go to USCIS’s website, Change of address is under “Manage Your Case” on the homepage.

And make sure change your mailing address by going to USPS website. You’ll have to make an account if you don’t already have one. They will also forward any mail under your name on your old address to your new address for a year.

In addition, if possible, sign up for "informed delivery" - you get a scan copy and notification of all mails coming to you (you don't get a scanned copy of the contents, just the envelope). By that way, you'd know if USCIS has sent a mail to you or not.

I had proposed the mail forwarding to another user on this forum. Someone clarified that USCIS mail cannot be forwarded - so would suggest you check on this part.
