He said that USCIS currently has about 1.3 million people waiting to be scheduled for biometrics, therefore the service centers that take the biometrics are overwhelmed and that unfortunately there's nothing they can do but to schedule people from March-April-May first. He said that if I filed in June more likely I will get biometrics by the end of January.

That's what I thought too that they would go in order of cases received. Apparently not!

-01/27/20: Same sex couple, married to USC.
-06/29/20: Package I-130, I-130A, I-131, I-485, I-693, I-765, I-864, I-864 joint sponsor and I-944 sent via certified mail USPS.
-06/30/20: Delivered by USPS and signed by Chicago lockbox T Thomas.
-07/25/20: Checks cashed.
-07/30/20: Text messages received with case confirmation numbers.
-07/31/20: Received NOA's in the mail.
-08/05/20: Received RFIE notification from USCIS for I-485, letter to follow via mail.
-08/10/20: Received RFIE in the mail asking for my partner's pay stubs for the last 6 months and letter of employment.
-09/18/20: Mailed out RFIE to Lee-Summit's office.
-09/21/20: USCIS confirms they've received RFIE.
-10/27/2020: Called USCIS regarding biometrics appointment not yet scheduled. USCIS send E-Request to Chicago FO.
-11/10/2020: Immigration officer reaches out to me via phone call to explain the reason I haven't received a biometrics appointment, appointment will come eventually.
-11/23/2020: USCIS files another E-Request for biometrics.
-12/04/2020: USCIS confirms biometrics appointment has been scheduled and letter with details is in the mail already.

By law USCIS has 90 days to issue a work permit and SSN. Typically, biometrics are scheduled within 2 weeks from the day you got your I-797C's.

Correct, from the day your application is accepted and processed, USCIS has 90 days to issue a work permit and SSN (if applicable). In the past, biometrics appointments were given within 1-2 weeks after acceptance. But with covid now USCIS has about 1.3 million people waiting to be scheduled which has caused enormous delays.

How did you put in a request for missing biometrics? My PD is 2 days from you and I'm waiting just like you. No news from USCIS after NOA texts.

Finished my interview today, it went really well. The IO took me into the room before my wife and kids says this was due to covid. She asked me the routine questions and asked for the original documents for birth paper, marriage certificate etc. Also asked for joint evidence, i gave her bank statement, insurance, 401k and some pictures from years back to recent, i love taking pictures so i have pictures of me and my wife from we lived in jamaica. she then sent for my wife and kids because there was some confusion , cause the IO thought my wife was not the mother of my kids , which she is. When i told her, she then informed me that my kids were already us citizens and didnt need to go through green card process. I didnt know this and could have saved a lot of time and money if i did. After asking the yes or no question this is the part i dont fully understand.

I think the interview went extremely well. No hiccups everything provided, she even offered information on how we can get our kids citizenship because she said they may be denied the green card since they are already citizens. Then she turn to me and said she is still waiting on more documents to come in for me so she can make a decision. She told me not to worry but i was not given any paper or anything. Just told to wait. is that normal?

Were not your kids born here? If they were, that's really confusing. That is basic, if you are born in this country, you are a US citizen by birth. If they were born oversea from a US citizen, you adjust their status via the embassy. That might be the reason of your delay.

They were not born in the US, they came here on B2 visa in 2013 and stayed. Their mom recently naturalized and now we are filing for their green cards along with mine. My wife (mom) came here on a green card in 2011, the IO was just confused as to why we waited so long to file. Answer: for her to become a citizen. She had some hiccups to naturalizing but finally did this year.

This is very frustrating.

You can call them or send them an email from the USCIS'S website directly. They'll do an electronic request and send it to your field office. Also, you can filled out the form for "case outside normal processing times". https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/dis...ntryPoint=init

That's terrible. I'm on the same boat, I've also been waiting 90 days for biometrics and haven't gotten any response. I filled a request online but I don't believe I'll get a reply. Maybe they are still running understaffed and keep getting behind on applications.

Are you from California as well? I wonder if where you live has something to do with case processing speed.

Yesterday got my EAD card in mail and today my I-485 case was updated to “Interview Was Scheduled”!!! Can’t believe, everything sped up after biometrics.

Been waiting for 120 days since the fingerprint fee was received...put in a request before and the response was meaningless. Today I asked Emma if I should put in another request, she told me I can't until it's another 30 days after the response...seriously?
