  • Is there a NEW I-485 form?

I am confused. I filed an application on 05/08/2020 that was accepted. The expiration date on the I-485 form is 10/31/2021. Now I need to file for my derivatives because they were rejected. I check USCIS webtsite but the expiration date of the form is now 10/31/2020. I was not going to file a new form because USCIS allows to reuse the rejected one. Do I really need to file a completely new I-485?
    05/08/20: I-485, I-765, I-131, I-944 sent to USCIS
05/13 Rejected due to lack of I-864
    05/27 resubmitted with explanation
    06/03 Rejected again-same reason
    06/13 Resubmitted with I-864
07/07 Lockbox emailed back and ask to resubmit
07/09 Filings accepted with PD 05/08/20 (nice)
08/06 Prior biometrics applied to I485
08/28 Took biometrics for I-765 only
    09/28 I-765's Cards Ordered
    10/02 EAD/AP received
    04/12 Interview Sched
05/11 Interview done approval on the spot but no USCIS update online

I’d use the current form available on USCIS website
USC filed AOS for parents on B2. I am not a lawyer.

I will definitely do that- nothing has changed in the form execpt for that. I suspect they do that so that they can continue to reject applications pending the fee increases...Geeezzz. They have rejected application for no apparent reasons.

Never look at the expiration date. Look at the edition date (on the lower-left corner of each page). Sometimes multiple editions have the same expiration date, but some editions are accepted, and some aren't.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

newacct Wow that’s an important distinction
How do we make sure the edition we downloaded from the USCIS website when we started filling up the form is one that will be accepted??!!

On the USCIS page of the form, it lists the editions that are currently accepted. It will say on the page usually 30 or 60 days ahead of time when some edition will stop being accepted.

For I-485 I only see this:

Is this the section you mean?

              Edition Date

10/15/19. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions. The edition date for the Special Instructions for Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness Applicants is 04/08/20.

Dates are listed in mm/dd/yy format.

Yes. The 10/15/19 edition is the only currently-accepted edition. It is required for all I-485 postmarked after February 24, 2020. For I-485 postmarked before February, 24, 2020, they must use the 07/15/19 edition.

I am using the current form they have listed. In June I used the one that the expiration date 10/31/21. The edition date is still the same. I find it weird to change the expiration date within a month. After 02/24/20... All valid I-485 had an expiration date of 10/31/21 and an edition date of 10/15/19.
