  • AOS Interview: What to bring

We spent two months preparing the package a while back. It was sent in. My question is - do we need to go through it again (making same copies, printing same forms and photos) for the actual interview? Or they already have it?

    Thanks

The Immigration Officer will already have copies of the evidence you submitted. It wouldn't hurt to bring the originals though. When I had my AOS interview, the officer asked for my original passport and marriage certificate.

Our interview notice specifically states to bring in originals as well as a copy of what we filed. Hubs and I were talking about this today because our package was literally 14 inches thick, no joke... so not sure we can just waltz into the field office with an entire box in our arms. That said, I think we are going to take originals of everything we sent, copies of the important stuff (797s, I-94s, etc), and then a package of "new" evidence basically recent pay stubs, checking and savings statements, etc from the time we filed until now...oh and 2019 tax returns!

There are lots of other threads with much more detailed info on this as well

Thanks. Yes, this does make sense. Copies of forms, original docs, and any recent unsubmitted evidence. Because making all of the initial copies would be insane. Thanks

We’ve been married for 15 years so there was a lot to include! Also he was a J-1 waaaaay back so we included all the evidence showing he fulfilled his 2-year home residency requirement. It’s def been a long road

Brilliant, take everything you listed. It is an excellent back-up plan. I'm glad to read the large amount of evidence that you submitted. Clearly, you are not leaving anything to chance. We submitted 9lbs 5.8 ounces of evidence for our ROC, so we definitely understand your efforts. If your I693 will be expired by the date of the interview, please consider taking and updated sealed one. All the best.

Ok, so we have the interview coming up. Would bringing originals of submitted documents as well as proof of whatever happened between filing and the interview be enough? We literally sent big box of papers 12 months ago, and it would be crazy to do it all over again. Thanks

Yes, you can waltz in there wheeling in a carry-on suitcase with everything you submitted for your initial AOS filing and evidence from the time you filed through the time of the interview.

My advice is to wear professional attire. Show deference for the process.
