F1 visa work hours

Hi,

My spouse is here on F1 visa and I am US citizen. Can my spouse on F1 visa work more than 20 hours per week for on campus job.

F1 full-time students can only work up to 20 hours a week during the semester, they can work full time during the breaks (summer/winter). If they work more, they are in violation of their F1 visa. As spouse of US citizens, overstaying and unauthorized work is overlooked.

If you already applied to AOS and your spouse wants to work more than 20 hours, I think is better to close the F1 status with the international department. You may want to wait for the AOS EAD to prove the work is authorized, they may not allow your spouse to work without authorization.

No, under CPT is basically having a work authorization. And the rule for CPT is the same, only 20 hours a week in the semester. 40 hrs/week in summer and winter.

You are either under CPT or OPT, can't do both at the same time. Regarless of which, rule is the same .
