I am married to a lawful permanent resident, and filing for green card under F2A category. We filed the I-130 petition in Jan 2020, online. Even though the visa availability was "Current" for this category, we didn't file the I-485 concurrently - mostly because it couldn't be done online - and also because of laziness. I have realized that was a big mistake. However, since the availability is still "Current", we are eligible to file I-485 while I-130 is pending, and so we filed that now (August 2020).
* How badly does it impact the processing time? Would the I-485 processing have to wait till I-130 is approved? Or would it happen in parallel?
* I-130 was assigned to California service center, whereas the I-485 had to be sent to Chicago. Does this cause any further issues?
California service center is showing estimated processing time for I-130 as 11.5 - 14.5 months.
And Chicago is showing the same for I-485 as 9-38 months.
