  • Expedite I-485 and EAD through Congresswomen. What is the success rate?

    Hi everyone,

I contacted the congresswomen a few weeks ago. A staff lady from the congresswomen office reached out and is trying to help me. I just want to know if anyone did the same thing and has a success story to share. Thank you!

    Hi there,

I tried to expedite my EAD on 08/06, requested it on the phone with USCIS, but to this day and after I sent them all the supporting docs, still no decision about it (25 days)

I contacted the ombudsman's office, they requested an update on my case to USCIS on 08/19, but have not received anything yet either.

On Friday, I finally heard back from the senator's office in Florida (I sent a email about 2 weeks ago). This time, I was able to file a proper request with a signed "Privacy Consent Act form". I received an automatic reply: it can take up to 5 business days for them to process my request. So if anything happens from there, it will probably be next week..

    Where are you filing from?

I filed expedited request from ombudsman, and congressman on 8/26 . After a few attempts by phone with uscis, i was finally able to get through and complete a request with them On 8/27. No response from CA congressman. Ombudsman acknowledged receip of my docs and application. I received a response from uscis today - 8/31. First, to say that i need to wait for my biometrics appointment first. An hour later, they responded again by email to say my request was denied bec i failed to provide severe reasons. I thought i listed reasonable detrimental impacts of losing my employment and small business. Idk if the biometrics was the main cause or the way my reasons were written by the uscis rep who I spoke with was not detailed enough.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your journey. I'm filing from San Jose California. I attempt to made an expedite request through the phone a few times, but on the same day, they always email back saying that I need my biometric done, and I'm on the list to have biometric scheduled.

"Our records indicate that we are awaiting your appearance for biometric processing. Your case is currently in suspense or on hold until we receive your biometrics. Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for biometrics at their local ASC. Once you have been scheduled, you will receive an ASC Appointment Notice containing the date, time and location of your appointment. You must take the ASC Appointment Notice and photo ID to your appointment. You may request expeditious processing again once USCIS has received your biometrics."

Well I just had an update : my expedite was finally denied a minute ago and I've just received a biometrics notice by mail
(I don't know why Friday they told me on the phone there was none on my case yet)
The appointment is on sept 14.

The Senator's office replied to me 2 hours ago to tell me they made an inquiry about my case...Maybe that's why they finally denied the expedite! idk

Hey there, this is what's written :

"On August 31, 2020, we denied your request for expedite processing of your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number YYYY . You did not provide evidence of an extreme emergent need. "

And with the pieces I gave them about my financial hardship, I really doubt it was not enough to prove it. So I'm guessing it was because of the biometrics. If it's not quick enough to update once I go to my appointment in two weeks, I'll try to expedite it again!

              Hopefully I won't need to...

Even though you will lose your job/small business w/o EAD they did not approve your EAD?
