  • Renewing EAD/AP while I485 is pending

Is anyone working on renewing their EAD/AP? Mine is good until 12/20 and I feel like I need to file very soon.

I don't see any formal instructions on when to apply from USCIS. Only that you need to apply beforehand and if you file before expiration, it gets automatically extended by 180 days.

Anyone who has done this recently, do you have any tips? Thanks!

I'm currently working on submitting my EAD & AP even though it expires 02/2021. I pretty much use the same information that I put on the forms when I first applied for EAD/AP. I think unless you have moved and have a new address everything should be the same when you first filled out the forms except this time you check the "Renewal of my permission..." and "Yes" to 'I have previously filed an i-765' box.

But here are the instructions for form i-765 (EAD)

The instructions for i-131 (Advanced Parole)

      Hi,
I mailed my husbands in August and his doesn’t expire until 12/20 but with the way everything is so backed up, I decided 3 months out is a good time to do it.

All our information is pretty much the same so we just copied everything from last form and send in the proof of pending I-485
      Field Office: Hartford, CT
      PD: 5/21/2019
      Filed forms: I-130; I-485; I-765
      B1/B/2 married to USC
      5/21/2019: I-130 and I-484 received
      7/12/2019: fingerprint review complete
8/29/2019: received rejected form I-485 due to bounced check
9/11/2019: mailed new I-485 with new check and I-765
      10/22/2019: biometrics complete
      11/22/2019: ready to schedule interview
12/18/2019: called USCIS and request exp on I-485
      12/20/2019: Expedite received and complete
      12/26/2019: I-765 approved

Thanks! Are you submitting pics again? I've already sent them 8, on top of the ones they took at the biometrics...

You’re allowed to renew at any point starting 180 days before EAD expiration. Would recommend doing it sooner rather than later.

Additionally, EAD and AP renewal while pending AOS will be charged fees ($550 and $590 respectively) starting October 2, 2020.

I recommend following USCIS instructions as strictly as possible. I would include as many passport photos as have been requested.

Only if the I-485 was filed after October 2, 2020.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thank you! That's a helpful reminder.

Yes, we resent pix. I received confirmation of receipt yesterday in the mail so I’m guessing the process is still the same.
