I am preparing for supporting docs for I-944 but I can't my tax transcript for 2019 due to IRS closing down during the pandemics, etc. I may not even be able to get it until 2021.
I have three options in mind:
1. Wait until I can get my tax transcript to file, which can be next year (2021)
2. Send the application without I-944. If getting rejection/denial, resend the package again.
3. Send out the application with I-944, but using tax returns documents instead of tax transcript and an explanation of why I am not able to get tax transcript for now.
So my question is,
1. Is I-944 required now (as of September 12, 2020)?
2. If getting rejection/denial, will they take the application fee, or mail back to me without taking the application fee?
3. How long does it usually take from USCIS receiving my package to they sending out RFE/rejection notice?
4. I am currently on F1 OPT. If getting rejection, will I lose my F1 opt status?
Would appreciate anyone who has had some experiences in this. Thank you.
