  • Biometrics Appointment AOS

    Dear all,

Many, including me, are anxious about their biometrics appointments. My case was received back toward the end of May, but I never heard anything about biometrics since then.

I requested for an expedite for my I-765 but I received an email that my info was put in the system to generate an appointment.

I would really appreciate it if you post if you’ve received your appointment. This would give all of us some peace about when to expect the appointment.

Thank you and good luck to you all!

My application was received on March 9th and haven’t gotten biometrics yet.

I hope you get it soon. It seems it’s kind of random. Some April applicants got theirs already.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do but wait. Before COVID, they were processing about 14,000 cases per day. Multiply that number by the number of days USCIS was closed on top of all those who had appointments cancelled and you are suddenly facing a significant backlog of about 1 million cases, excluding new applicants. You're not the only one in the same situation- I promise it will come! U.S. immigration is frustrating!

They are taking steps to clear the backlog- those who have biometrics from previous applications are having appointments waived, so hopefully, the backlog will be cleared pretty soon!

Thank you for the reply and the great info! You’re totally right. I should stop thinking about it and it’ll eventually happen. Good luck!

I do empathize with your situation though, it is certainly a very frustrating time for everyone. I filed my I751 back in April and the last update I had was in June to say they reused my biometrics!

Things are definitely getting waived more so than before. There are a number of people I've talked to, including myself and my wife's situation where we'd had an interview and biometrics completed a couple years prior, so when it came to removing conditions on the GC, we didn't even have to do an interview or biometrics - but before COVID happened we probably would have had to have those things done.

If you have an open and shut case, you're probably going to find that USCIS will waive some requirements, assuming they're satisfied with what information they've already got.
