i-485 Mother Name

Friends,

I am preparing documents for filing of i-485 and have a question about filling the mother name at birth section.

Her name at Birth was YYYY YYYY

My passport and my Birth certificate has her name as AAAA BBBB.

Her name was changed after marriage from YYYY YYYY to AAAA BBBB.

My parents marriage certificate has mother name as AAAA BBBB. Her graduation degree has her name as YYYY YYYY.

What would be the best way here to fill in the name section to avoid a RFE.

it will be whatever is in your passport. they are not asking for your moms passport or her marriage certificate/degree

Are you filing for your parents AOS?

It was the identical case for my mother as well. Here’s what I included (no RFE so far)

• Mother’s self affidavit listing her birth name (including some variations of the same on various documents - educational etc.) as well as her name after marriage
• Affidavit from other family members (her mom) listing similar details (birth name and name after marriage)
• Copy of her passport
• Copy of marriage certificate
• Educational documents for her
