I need little help in understanding I-485J. Where does it play in I-485 filing? Also, receiving I-485 J receipt notice mean USCIS is processing my I-485 now even though my receipt data for I-485 is Nov 2020. Little lost here.

Concurrent Filing with I140 and I485 in EB3 on Oct 15

I received Receipt# on November 2020;
I have NOT received the Biometric Appointment Letter - Is this delay because my I-140 is not approved yet ?
Please let me know - I am hearing Biometric Appoinment Letters who applied after me.

some people who filed a month before you in september only just got their bio appt for mid feb.

In the September 2020 filers forum, post number #261 on page 18 is about someone who walked in early for their biometrics, because they wouldn't be able to make the originally scheduled date. From the looks of it, it hasn't really speeded up the process.

no, it hasnt. but it was better than waiting til i got back mid feb and having to do chicagos 2 week quarantine, then having to wait until march or even april to even do the biometrics, and possibly be off work til june! At least now i hope to get the card by the end of this month,

The annoying thing was that i had already done my biometrics before. But i tried for weeks for hours every day to get through to USCIS on the phone to confirm i didnt need the biometrics in the first place, but couldnt get past the damn automated voice service. Sure enough, 3 weeks after i did my biometrics a letter came through stating they noticed id done them before, wouldnt have to do them again, and werent refunding my fee.

They just seem really disorganised in general. It should have shown on the system my biometrrics were already taken in feb 2020 in australia at the usa embassey.

I had FP taken at the port of entry in Jan 2020, wondering if that would count.

I am seeing some filers with later filing dates than me, in the same region, get their biometrics appointments. Hope mine is coming soon.

I'm on the border of Octt/ Nov
Sent Oct 27th received by lockbox in Texas on Nov 2nd (I had certified mail tracking on it)
no receipt so far and my work permit expires Frida (feb 5th)
My work authorization is C09 which means I could get automatic extension with receipt but without it I'm out of luck and my employer (Sea World Orlando) needs the receipt for e verify
I'm so upset, have sent emails to lockbox and resent all paperwork again 2 weeks ago

Hi! I was expecting biometric notice by the end of January and an appointment in February but no news yet. My spouse has an exam in early March. If both the dates coincide is there any possibility to ask for another date of appointment for biometric? Any lead, in this case, will be helpful. Thanks.

You can always request a re-schedule. However, I read on some posts that once you have the notice in and and if you show up to the service center they will make you wait for some time but they'll do it. They are scheduling less people per hour due to COVID.

My recommendation will be not to go for the reschedule biometric unless its absolutely necessary. If the dates coincide then I would suggest to go in earlier or may be early on the same day and explain your situation. There is high likelihood that you will be allowed. I am just thinking that this is a long process in itself and rescheduling your biometric will extend it further.

My biometric was done in early December and the status for EAD was updated promptly to "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken" on Dec 9. Yet I have no updates on the EAD/AP cards so far; while folks having biometric done in Jan have already received the combo card. Is there anything I can do to get it looked at? Its just that my wife's current EAD (dependent) card is expiring in March.

My husband is the primary applicant of I-485, and I am the dependent. Our application of I485 and its EAD was sent on Oct 27th 2020 to the Nebraska Service Center. Now it has been more than 90 days, and we still have not received the receipt number yet.

My Questions:

1. Has anyone who has applied for I-485 around Oct 27 2020, received receipt yet? If not, How long will it take for the Nebraska Service centre to process the application?

2. I am the dependent and currently, I hold H4 visa. I recently got a job offer and I have another 30 days to join and start working. My question is, If I get a receipt number within 30 days, will I be eligible to start working legally with just the receipt number? OR Do I have to wait for the physical EAD card to start working?

3. While I-485 and its EAD is still pending approval(No receipt yet), Can I renew my H4 EAD?

Will renewal of H4 EAD affect the approval process of I-485 EAD? I am trying to renew my H4 EAD just to be on the safer side.

Mine was submitted on Oct 30th to Lewisville, Texas, not received receipts nor cheques encashed. Still waiting for more than 90 days. Has anyone else submitted to this lockbox during this date received the receipts?

Yours is a tricky situation. All communication was from NBC for me and the Combo card were physically mailed from NBC address in MO. USCIS has proven time and again that they are totally unpredictable. I see some people from Oct still waiting for receipts and Nov/ Dec filers getting receipt notices which also doesn't make sense as it should all be first come first serve.
