  • F1 student - International travel by AP

    Hello all,

I am planning to do international travel in this winter break. I am in a process of Adjustment of Status. F1 student married to LPR. I already got my Combo card, and still take full time student.

I want to visit my family this New Year. However, my ISO told me that if I use AP to enter the US, my SEVIS will
be terminated and I could not go to school until I become a Permanent Resident.

Does any in the same situation or have any advice?

    Thank

What I know is that if you travel abroad and return with AP (the only way you can travel now) you will no longer be in F1 status and your SEVIS should be terminated.

It seems strange that having a work permit is not enough to go to school. I think there are a lot of kids and young adults in the AOS process that can last several years, I bet a lot of them are studying. Maybe the rules change from college to college?

It is better to review the requirements at your school but not with the international student department. Good luck.
